To the staff and volunteers at Special Olympics Rhode Island and the American Heart Association, thank you for adopting me as one of your own. This community is what makes saying goodbye so difficult. Rhode Island may be the smallest state, but I'd argue it has the biggest heart. To every person who cheered me on as I recovered - thank you. It was in the days and weeks after I had my stroke that this community stood by us. We got engaged on a beach in Newport, planned a wedding from our home in Foxboro, got married, and came home to endure our greatest test so far. Travis and I constantly say we've lived a lot in the last four years. ĭuring my time here, I grew as a journalist and as a person.

Professionally, I was able to cover countless breaking news stories, co-anchor one of our weekday broadcasts, travel to the Florida panhandle as people began rebuilding after Hurricane Michael, take a deep dive into how burn pits could be affecting the health of our troops overseas, follow a Providence mother's journey to becoming a U.S. I couldn't have imagined everything that would happen next. I came to Providence hoping to take the next step in my career and cut down on the distance between me and Travis. I didn't know many people when I moved here four years ago.
